Marcelo Brodsky
Marcelo Brodsky (b. 1954, Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a prominent Argentine artist and human rights activist. After being forced into exile in Barcelona following General Videla’s 1976 coup, he studied economics at the University of Barcelona (1983) and photography at the Centre Internacional de Fotografia. His work focuses on visual language, memory, and human rights, often combining images, text, and archival documents to explore social, political, and historical issues. Brodsky is the founder and board member of the Parque de la Memoria, a monument and exhibition space dedicated to the victims of Argentina’s military dictatorship. He also founded Visual Action, an NGO that provides visual expertise to other NGOs. Among his numerous awards are the Dr. Jean Mayer Award of Global Citizenship (2015) and the B’nai Brith Award for Human Rights (2003).
