Manuel Cargaleiro
Manuel Cargaleiro (Vila Velha de Rodão, Portugal, 1927 – Castelo Branco, Portugal, 2024) spent his childhood in a pottery workshop in Monte da Caparica, where his family moved when he was just two years old. There, he began experimenting with glass and paint, developing a passion for ceramics. Today, Cargaleiro is not only a renowned ceramist but also an accomplished draftsman and painter, using various mediums to express transient emotions. His poetic quest is shaped by nature and manifested through his unique use of color and formal deconstruction.
