Luis Demée

Luís Luciano Demée (1928, Macau) was mentored by George Smirnoff and studied at the Lisbon and Porto Schools of Fine Arts. He held solo exhibitions in Macau and Hong Kong, later continuing his studies in Paris on a Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship. A professor at the Porto School of Fine Arts, he received the National Souza Cardoso Painting Prize and participated in international exhibitions in London and Cologne. Demée created murals, frescoes, and acrylic works for various public buildings, including the Palace of Justice in Sabugal. He was awarded the Medal of Valor by the Secretary of State for Culture and the Gold Medal of Citizen (Emeritus) by the Government of Macau in 1999.
