Kiluanji Kia Henda

Kiluanji Kia Henda (1979, Angola) lives and works in Luanda, Angola. His interest in visual arts developed from growing up in an environment surrounded by photography enthusiasts. His connection with music and avant-garde theater played a key role in his conceptual training, as did his collaboration with artist collectives in Luanda. He has participated in various residency programs in cities such as Venice, Cape Town, Paris, Amman, and Sharjah, among others. In 2012, Kia Henda won the National Culture and Arts Award, granted by the Ministry of Culture of Angola, and in 2014, he was selected as one of the 100 Leading Global Thinkers by the prestigious U.S. magazine Foreign Policy. In 2017, he won the Frieze Artist Award, and in 2019, he was selected for the Unlimited Basel project.
