Júlio Resende

Júlio Resende (1917–2011, Porto, Portugal) was the author of a vast body of painting work developed between the 1930s and the early 21st century. He completed his studies in Painting in 1945 at the School of Fine Arts in Porto, where he also taught from 1958 to 1987. He held numerous exhibitions both in Portugal and abroad, starting with group exhibitions in 1934 and his first solo show in 1943. Throughout his career, he received several prestigious awards. He created public art using various techniques, including ceramics, fresco, stained glass, and tapestry, installed in locations across Portugal. He illustrated literary works, particularly for children, and designed sets and costumes for theater, ballet, and impactful performances. His work has been studied by leading Portuguese art critics, historians, and prominent writers and poets.
